Development Camps

Great Brook is pleased to announce our 2017 summer camp schedule!

Basic Referee Training Camp – (PRINT OUT FLYER HEREThis camp is designed for new officials or those officials with less experience who are looking to increase their abilities or knowledge and to join with the Great Brook Officials Association team.  We will cover topics such as positioning, communications with players and coaches, calling of penalties, rules knowledge, and much more.  This program offers two nights of classroom instruction as well as two additional nights of on ice instruction.  This course is a MUST for all new officials who want to learn and progress within the officiating ranks.

Class dates – MAY 29 and JUNE 1st from 6pm to 9pm- Great Brook Officials Office 340 Commerce Way Pembroke, NH classroom instruction

On Ice Sessions – June 5th 7pm to 8pm and June 8th 6pm to 7pm at Tritown Ice Arena North River Road Hooksett NH

Attendance is required at all 4 training dates/sessions in order to complete the program.  Once the educational portion is complete, students will have the opportunity to work games during the summer with a shadow who will skate with new officials on the ice and give further instruction.  This is a great opportunity to work games without the pressure of making incorrect calls.

Other Enrichment Program Courses that we offer throughout the season

USA Hockey Development Opportunities – As part of our evaluation program, our forms are submitted to the State of New Hampshire and in turn, submitted to the New England District evaluation program.  Our recommendation on the evaluation forms can open opportunities for further review and possible request for those officials to work state finals games, Regional games, New England festival games, and more.  All of these opportunities are dependent on the referee’s skill levels and abilities.

High School/Prep School Referee Training Course  This course helps to develop and ready those officials who have an interest in officiating high school and prep school games in their area.  In both New Hampshire and Massachusetts, membership in the local NIHOA chapter is required in order to officiate these levels.  Our course will help develop these officials to take the skating and written exams (where required).  This is not a guarantee of acceptance into the chapter.  This is a 2 week program that meets every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for 2 hours each day.  There will be 8 total classroom hours and 4 total on ice hours.

Junior Referee Training Course – This course focuses on preparing officials to make the step up to Junior level officiating.  We work closely with the referees crease LLC which is responsible for assigning referees for the USPHL, Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and many other leagues to include Atlantic NCAA Division 1 college league, ECAC North Division 3 NCAA college league, and Northeast 10 Division 2 NCAA college league.  Those who complete our prep course are recommended for use by this group.  There is no guarantee of acceptance into the organization.  This is a 2 week program

On-Line Learning/Development – Great Brook owns our own learning management system and occasionally  hosts both mandatory and non-mandatory continuing education programs that are available exclusively to all of our association members.
